What are Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are large and hurting veins in the lower part of rectum which become swollen due excessive strain usually while having difficulties in passing stools (this may be associated with a condition called constipation). It may also be seen in women undergoing pregnancy in which uterine size and pressure is increased causing the veins of lower part of rectum to swell. Hemorrhoids may be internal and present along the rectal lining which becomes more obvious when there is a bleeding in stool without causing any pain. These internal hemorrhoids may protrude out of anus. External hemorrhoids are painful and can be felt by touching around anus. This painful condition may also be associated with chronic liver diseases that lead to the formation of hemorrhoids. This condition is very common and estimated to appear near the age of fifty. Other causes of hemorrhoids  may be anal infections or among people having jobs where they keep sitting for a long time.
