Requirements for Drupal Hosting

There are a few requirements to be met for Drupal Hosting. The following is the list of requirements.
1) A Linux or a Windows operating system
2) PHP
3) A fully qualified domain name i.e. A registered DNS
4) A web server (preferably Apache)
5) WinSCP for managing the files on the server
6) A static IP address
7) MySQL Database System PEAR libraries for a full effective Drupal functionality
9) Mail Server
A Linux operating system is better suited for drupal hosting than windows. The Linux operating system must have SSH SFTP installed. Even though Drupal may also be installed on IIS, Apache web server is recommended for an optimal performance. Drupal doesnt store any content on the web server in the form of files; it rather stores them in the database and hence it is recommended to have database system that supports PHP like MySQL.
